    Dour Puritan

iFanboy has posted a whole host of splendid Mike Mignola covers for upcoming Dark Horse releases, and among them is this little gem, featuring everyone’s favorite dour Puritan adventurer. It’s the cover to the second collection of the Solomon Kane series with scripts by Scott Allie and art by Mario Guevara. It’s due out October 20, 2010, with a $15.99 pricetag. Kane is my absolute favorite of all Robert E. Howard’s characters, I must admit.

    How awesome is that?

iZombie #1 free at Austin Books

Have I mentioned that the first issue of iZombie is on stands tomorrow, May 5th? Well, it is. And for a measely one dollar, too!

And if you’re in the Austin area and want to save a buck, come on by my favorite comic shop on the planet, Austin Books & Comics, where they’ll be handing out a free copy of iZombie #1 to every customer (over 17 years old) who walks in the door. And if you want me to deface your copy, show up between 4 and 7 PM, when I’ll be on hand with Sharpie at the ready

If you’re not in the Austin area, of course, the first issue will just set you back a buck, so what do you have to lose?

    One Life, in seconds

(via) I’m a big old softee, and every now and then I’ll actually get choked up watching a commercial or music video. Here’s a perfect example. It’s a commercial created by Adam & Eve for the UK Retailer John Lewis, showing the life of a customer in a single minute.

It reminds me of the video for Elvis Costello’s Veronica for some reason. Maybe because both show a life from beginning to end, one linear and one nonlinear, or maybe it’s just because I watched that one drunken night a couple of weeks ago and it made me bawl like a baby.
