Clandestine & Iron Fist
In the giant sea of suck that is the current crop of superhero comics, there are still the occasional gems, bobbing along. Here's two in particular, coming our way in February 08.
And if you don't know from The Immortal Iron Fist, what the heck is wrong with you? Go get it already!
CLANDESTINE #1 (of 5)If you don't know from Clandestine, it's one of the best things in the history of ever, and a high watermark in a career full of high watermarks from Alan Davis (he of Captain Britain, Marvelman, DR & Quinch, and Excalibur fame). To have Davis back, doing more of it after so many years, is a reason to rejoice.

Ah, I think there's some pretty good super-hero comics out there right now... All Star Superman, Brave and the Bold, Green Arrow and Black Canary, Lobster Johnson, Fear Agent as well as Eric Powell's excellent Bizarro story in Action Comics.
Oh, there's definitely a few stand-outs. All Star Superman, certainly. Shadowpact is always a favorite. And I've been pretty impressed with Brave and the Bold. I dipped my toe in the Green Arrow and Black Canary wedding special, though, and the ending lost me completely. I'm liking Lobster Johnson, as well, but suspect it may read better in trade, as I'm starting to think that the entire Hellboy-universe of titles probably does. I probably would have liked the Eric Powell-drawn Bizarro story arc better if I hadn't just seen the very similar story in All Star Superman.
I refer to the market in general as a "sea of suck," I think, because those few standouts seem to be such a small minority of the total output these days, with most of it being lost in never-ending crossover nonsense of varying degrees of suckiness. But your point that there are some good things out there is definitely well taken, and something about which I sometimes need to be reminded!
