My WorldCon Schedule

Last year at Interaction, I was on a lot of programming items. This year I've got a much more manageable amount. Three panels (two about television programs I blog about regularly, one about my publisher Pyr), a reading, and a kaffeklatsch. So this is where I'll be when I'm not in the hotel bar...

LOST: SF OR ??
Thu 8/24 1:00 PM, 60-90 minutes.
Participants: Chris M. Barkley, Perrianne Lurie , Nicki Lynch(M), Priscilla Olson, Chris Roberson
Precis: So just what is Lost? Is it a science fiction series? If it's not, what is it? And why do so many people like it?

----------------------------------------
KAFFEKLATSCH: Chris Roberson
Thu 8/24 4:00 PM, 60 minutes.

----------------------------------------
PYR: A LOOK FORWARD
Fri 8/25 2:30 PM, 60-90 minutes.
Participants: Lou Anders
Precis: One of science fiction's newest major publishers give a look at their future publications.

----------------------------------------
BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: THEN & NOW
Fri 8/25 5:30 PM, 60-90 minutes.
Participants: Mark Altman, Shaun Lyon(M), Greg Pak, Chris Roberson, Kevin Rubio
Precis: The two versions of this series couldn't be more different. The original series, while fun, was far from great. Rolling Stone named the new version the best drama on television. Why do people still love the original series? What's the difference between them?

----------------------------------------
READING: Chris Roberson
Sat 8/26 3:00 PM, 60 minutes.

Comments:
I'm doing fifteen events! Which is absolutely what I asked for, I love to be busy during convention daytime.

I did twelve last year, which seemed like one or two too many. My five seems a bit of a light load, and I wouldn't have minded taking on a few more, but the gods of programming just didn't will it this time out.

You, however, are Paul Cornell, Superstar, so it's hardly surprising you're so much in demand. You have conquered all media at this point, haven't you?

I didn't like the first Battlestar Galactica. Even as a kid I couldn't be bothered to watch it. The new series is great however I watched the whole whack for the first time recently. I even sat in during a beautiful day chasing cliffhangers.

All media except books, man. I'm not being let near any books panels. And of course, the grass being greener, that's where I most want to be. But fair play to them, many guests more suited to that.

Chris, Paul says that there's going to be a Legion of Super-Heroes panel there, of all things, on Wednesday afternoon (no doubt due to the presence of Tom Galloway). Sounds like something up your alley.

Yeah, Michael, I actually volunteered for that one, but they decided to take that piker Cornell instead. And Paul readily admits that he's only started reading the Legion! Can he discuss the intricacies of Bismolian politics, or debate the influence of Eltro Gand on Mon-El's behaviour in the Levitz era, or champion V4 as the best the Legion ever got, and damn the critics? Hardly! But Paul's a much more likeable and charming guy than I am, so they've wisely gone with him instead. I may go the panel just to heckle...
