I've just read the sad news that Mike Wieringo has died of a heart attack at the age of 44. One of the highlights of my day in recent months has been Ringo's daily sketch over on his site, and I'd been hoping to see some of the pulpy, science fantasy stuff he'd been working on develop into a bigger project. I've never met the man, but always enjoyed his work, and I'm far more upset by the news that I might have expected.
