House of Mystery #13

I was just glancing through the May 2009 solicitations for DC Comics, and noticed this little item...
HOUSE OF MYSTERY #13
Written by Matthew Sturges, Bill Willingham and Chris Roberson
Art by Neal Adams, Ralph Reese, Sergio Aragones and Eric Powell
Cover by Esao Andrews
Variant cover by Neal Adams
For its landmark 13th issue, HOUSE OF MYSTERY presents a special anthology featuring four separate stories written by Matthew Sturges, Bill Willingham and novelist Chris Roberson. This issue features the unique visuals of four artists including Neal Adams, Ralph Reese and Sergio Aragones, as well as a painted tale by Eric Powell (The Goon). Each story pays homage to that unluckiest of numbers.
Retailers please note: This issue will ship with two covers. For every 10 copies of the Standard Edition (with a cover by Esao Andrews), retailers may order one copy of the Variant Edition (with a cover by Neal Adams). Please see the Previews Order Form for more information.
On sale May 6 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • MATURE READERS

Mmm. I wonder if that could be the same Chris Roberson...?

Comments:
I plan on picking up the first trade in the next couple weeks.

It really is a terrific book, and one of my favorite ongoing series.

The first trade is terrific, I'll continue to pick it up that way, but I think for #13 I may try to get the Neal Adams cover.

How cool is it to be credited in the same comic as Neal Adams!?

It's a little bit cooler than that, actually...

Go on, Chris, fess up the whole story. My jealousy couldn't get bigger anyway.

Willingham

Okay, Bill, but only because you told me to.

It's cooler than just be credited in the same book as Neal Adams, Rob, because mine is the story that Mr. Adams is illustrating. How is that for awesome?

So Matt Sturges gets nominated for an Eisner the first comic work he does. I was in the business twenty years before my first nomination. Chris gets Neal Adams to illustrate the first (the first that will be published anyway) comic story he does. I've never gotten Neal Adams to illustrate any story of mine. Not ever.

If either of you get Barry Windsor Smith to draw one of your stories I'm having you whacked. I've got the money. I've got the Austin connections. I'm going to have you killed.

All I can say, Bill, is that if I ever should be so lucky as to have BWS illustrate something of mine, I won't breathe a word of it to you...
